It is noted by Goku that the events taking place in this special are after that of the movie Dragon Ball Z: Super Android 13!. Goku says he will get there someday and Gohan tells everyone to be sure to go see Dragon Ball Z: Super Android 13! in theaters. Gohan tries to do like his father, but he is not powerful enough to get out of his tuxedo. In the end, Goku does not much like being all dressed up and powers up to change back into his regular martial arts uniform. In this film, the two Saiyans discuss the first three movies of Dragon Ball ( Curse of the Blood Rubies, Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle, and Mystical Adventure) and the first seven of Dragon Ball Z ( Dead Zone, The World's Strongest, The Tree of Might, Lord Slug, Cooler's Revenge, The Return of Cooler, and Super Android 13!). In fact, it is noted by Goku himself, that the events taking place in this special are after that of said movie. The setting of Dragon Ball Z: Movie Overview Special is identical to that of the movie Super Android 13!, West City, except Goku and Gohan appear in the streets wearing sharp tuxedos.
